INTERSTELLAR
As we dive deeper into the exploration of our solar system, spaceflight has recently become assessable to civilians. Interstellar re-envisions travel-wear and focuses on practicality, efficiency, and ease as we set sight on a brand-new mode of transportation.
RESEARCH
The research process began with the idea of Retro-Futurism and how the artistic movement was influenced by depictions of the future envisioned by the past. It is a vision that seems so unreal and dream-like, yet oddly obtainable. As we gaze into OUR future, solar exploration has rapidly evolved swaying the research process towards the idea of travel-wear that is practical and useful during spaceflight.
From in depth exploration on how spacesuits were created to protect astronauts from extreme temperatures and radiation, to researching how NASA’s designs have evolved over decades to optimize comfort and safety. This collection was primarily focused on creating garments that not only center on practicality and use, but aesthetic design as well.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
The clothing design process began with choosing material appropriate for spaceflight. From there, I quick sketched, gathered images, and digitally warped fabrics to create shape and form that later inspired garments. The designs are printed and sketched upon to solidify ideas.
