INSIDE

An study of knitwear that emphasizes the beauty of destruction and exploration of structure

DESIGN STATEMENT

The concept of this piece was established within the internal workings of architecture. Beginning with line-work in blueprints, then ranging to the physicality of beams and joists used to create actual structure. This idea evolved into building decay, and as time passes, inner workings become exposed while other fragments still stand. Each development was created with soft knits such as mohair and wool, that were engineered to produce three-dimensional textures. This exploration emphasizes the beauty destruction offers and how age and disaster add value to structure, making it precious, delicate, and unique.

FINAL DEVELOPMENT

The final outcome incorporates rows of bulb-like structures and gaps of lace-work that translate as the original design’s idea of structure and decay.
