DESIGN STATEMENT
AIRBORNE, IS A TRANSFORMATIVE MINI COLLECTION, DESIGNED TO EFFECTIVELY PROTECT AGAINST AIR POLLUTION. INITIALLY, THE CONCEPT WAS PROPOSED DUE TO THE INFLUX OF WILDFIRES, SHELTERING THE LUNGS FROM SMOKE INHALATION. AS THE RESEARCH PROCESS BEGAN, ATTENTION SHIFTED TO THE LARGER GLOBAL ISSUE CONCERNING AIR POLLUTION. IT HAS BEEN NOTED THAT THE LONG-TERM EFFECTS CAN RANGE FROM REPRODUCTIVE DAMAGES TO DEATH; POLLUTION ACCOUNTS FOR 12 PERCENT OF DEATHS GLOBALLY.
AS THE COLLECTION DEVELOPED, ELECTING TRANSFORMATIVE AND MULTIFACETED DESIGNS BECAME IMPERATIVE. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE WEARER CAN CHOOSE WHEN PROTECTION NEEDS TO BE IN PLACE, AND WHEN IT IS NOT, IT IS STILL USEFUL TO THEM. THERE ARE LITTLE TO NO ACCESSIBLE GARMENTS IN THE MARKET THAT INCORPORATE PROTECTIVE MASKS INTO THE DESIGN. AIRBORNE IS A COLLECTION THAT IS DEFENSIVE AGAINST AIR POLLUTION, WHILE INCORPORATING TACTICAL AND FUTURISTIC STYLISTIC ELEMENTS THAT ARE MEANINGFUL AND EFFECTIVE.

Each design demonstrates the commitment to reimagining protection in an era where safety and style coexist. Informed by a blend of sustainability and innovation, each design invites wearers to embrace respiratory health as an integral part of their fashion expression in areas where the air is compromised. Each head piece redefines the way we perceive safety wearables, proving that lung protection can be both functional and fashion-forward.
